Premier Window Covering Design Studio Since 1990

Custom Window Coverings | Loomis

Loomis has managed to hold onto its small-town, rural character even as the surrounding Sacramento region has grown. Oak-studded properties, equestrian estates and a walkable historic downtown all sit within a few miles of each other, which means the window styles we work with here vary widely — from farmhouse-style ranch homes to newer custom builds on larger lots.

Our Roseville design studio has worked with Loomis homeowners for more than three decades, treating each home as its own project rather than defaulting to whatever's easiest to install.

Designing Around a Rural Setting

Homes on larger Loomis properties often have a different relationship with light and privacy than a typical subdivision home — fewer close neighbors, more natural surroundings, and sometimes larger or irregularly placed windows that were built around a specific view of the property. Before recommending anything, we look at how sunlight moves through the home, how each window is shaped, and how the room actually gets used.

That process usually makes the right direction clear. A window facing an open pasture might call for a solar shade that manages heat without blocking the view, while a window closer to a road may need a fuller privacy solution.

Custom Drapery With Room to Breathe

Many Loomis homes, particularly custom builds on larger lots, include taller windows and more generous room dimensions where drapery can really stand out. Off-the-shelf panels tend to look thin against a nine- or ten-foot window, while custom drapery is built to the exact proportions of the space.

Getting the look right means coordinating fabric, lining, pleat style and hardware together as a single decision rather than piecing it together separately. Drapery can be fully functional for daily privacy, decorative for softness and texture, or paired with a shade underneath for layered control. Motorized tracks are available for panels that are large or inconvenient to reach.

Shutters for a Timeless, Rural-Friendly Look

Plantation shutters suit Loomis particularly well, offering a clean and substantial look that holds up against both farmhouse-style architecture and more contemporary custom homes. They provide real control over light and airflow, with frame styles that can be matched to a wide range of exteriors.

Whether wood or composite is the better material choice usually comes down to sun exposure and window size, and larger or irregularly shaped openings — common in custom-built Loomis homes — call for careful, experienced measuring.

Roller and Solar Shades for Open, Sunny Rooms

Roller shades work well in Loomis homes with large windows overlooking open land, since a solar fabric can meaningfully reduce heat and glare while keeping most of the view intact. Light-filtering fabrics offer a softer touch for living spaces that don't need full sun control.

Bedrooms and other spaces needing more complete darkness often benefit from a blackout fabric or dual-shade setup, giving you the flexibility to switch between an open feel and full privacy depending on the time of day.

Roman Shades for Character and Texture

Roman shades bring fabric warmth into a room without the scale of full drapery, making them well suited to farmhouse kitchens, breakfast nooks and smaller windows throughout Loomis homes. They're available in tailored, relaxed, waterfall and woven-wood styles, each of which can be lined for light filtering or blackout performance.

Because the fold depends on fabric weight and window width, each shade is designed specifically for its opening rather than a standard size.

Motorization for Larger Properties

On bigger properties with more windows spread across a larger footprint, motorization makes daily use significantly easier. Shades and drapery can be controlled from a wall panel, phone app or connected smart-home system, which is especially useful for tall windows, bonus rooms and spaces that aren't convenient to reach.

For new builds or larger remodels, we can help plan wiring and power requirements early, before walls and finishes are completed.

Shading Outdoor and Equestrian-Adjacent Spaces

Loomis's warm summers make covered patios, barns with adjoining living space, and outdoor entertaining areas difficult to enjoy without shade. A zipper-track shade, cable-guided screen or motorized retractable system can all reduce heat and glare while keeping airflow moving through the space.

Each system is custom-sized to the opening, so the right fit depends on the dimensions and sun exposure of your particular outdoor area.

Visit the Roseville Design Studio

Loomis homeowners are welcome to visit our nearby Roseville studio to see fabrics, shutter samples and shading systems in person before deciding on a direction. This tends to be the most efficient starting point, particularly for drapery, where fabric and texture are easier to judge up close.

In-Home Consultations Throughout Loomis

For larger projects or full-property renovations, we come to you. During the visit, we'll walk through the home together, talk through your goals for each room, and take the measurements needed to prepare a detailed proposal — without commission-based sales pressure.

Precision Matters on Custom Properties

Loomis homes, especially custom builds on larger lots, often include less standard window sizing than a typical subdivision home. Mounting depth, frame clearance, light gaps and motor placement all require careful attention to get a proper fit.

Decades of experience across a wide range of Loomis properties has taught us where these details tend to be overlooked, and how to catch them early. The goal is a window treatment that looks like it was designed for your specific home, because it was.
